"Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age."
-Matthew 28:19-20
Nain Evangelical Lutheran Church
"They were all filled with awe and praised God. 'A great prophet had appeared among us,' they said. 'God has come to help his people.'" (Luke 7:16)
This was the reaction of the people after Jesus raised a young man, the son of a widow, from the dead. This happened outside of a town near Nazareth called Nain in Galilee. The name of our congregation reminds us of Christ's almighty love and power, not only as displayed in this account, but also in his promise to raise all believers to eternal life in heaven. The miracle performed at Nain foreshadows Christ's own resurrection from the dead on Easter Sunday morning. By rising from the dead, Jesus defeated sin, death, and the power of the devil. Thus, Easter is our assurance that we are free and forgiven of our sins - it is the foundation of our saving faith. Reminded of these things, we are led to the truth realized by those in Nain: God has come to help his people!
Nain Evangelical Lutheran Church is a Christ-centered congregation located in West Allis, Wisconsin. Established in 1914, God has blessed us ever since with the privilege of proclaiming his merciful love won for us through Jesus' life, death, and resurrection.
As a group of believers united by faith in God, our mission is to faithfully preach and teach God's Law and Gospel so that his message is believed by all who come into our midst. We trust in the Triune God - Father, Son, and Holy Spirit - to accomplish this through his Word and Sacraments. To him be the glory!
We are a confessional Lutheran Church, meaning that we confess the truths of God's Word, the Bible, according to the Book of Concord, our Lutheran Confessions.
